Greenwood, SC — The Greenwood Promise is proud to announce the appointment of four community leaders to its Board of Directors, each beginning a three-year term dedicated to advancing educational opportunities and workforce development in Greenwood County.
Joining the board are:
- Dr. Daniel Crockett, Superintendent of Ware Shoals District 51. With decades of experience in education, Dr. Crockett offers invaluable insight into the needs of students and educators and is committed to fostering academic excellence and equity.
- Casey Tompkins, Director of Talent & Culture at Davis & Floyd. Casey’s expertise in organizational development and workforce engagement will support the Promise’s mission to align educational pathways with local industry needs.
- Tyra Murray, Community Health Educator at Self Regional Healthcare. Tyra brings a strong background in public health and youth advocacy. She also serves on the South Carolina State Youth Committee, where she champions youth mentorship and leadership development across the state.
- Kelly Buckshorn, Advocate for Children & Youth. Kelly has 25 years in nonprofits in the Greenwood area and brings a wealth of experience in community service and youth advocacy.
As we welcome these new members, the Greenwood Promise also extends gratitude to Dr. Steve Glenn, Michael Walters, Denise Manley, and Steven Pruitt for their dedicated service and impactful contributions during their tenure on the board.

The Greenwood Promise is a place-based last-dollar scholarship program designed to ensure that every student in Greenwood County has access to post-secondary education to build a highly skilled workforce. With the support of its board and community partners, the Promise continues to invest in the future of Greenwood through education.
