Greenwood Promise Celebrates Milestones from Kindergarten to College Graduation

June 2026 – As another school year ends, Greenwood Promise is proud to celebrate students at every stage of their educational journey, from their first steps in school to earning college degrees and entering the workforce.

This spring, 855 kindergarten students across Greenwood County received a Greenwood Promise Class of 2038 medallion as they celebrated an important milestone. The medallions serve as a reminder that opportunities for higher education will always be available right here in Greenwood County and that Greenwood Promise will be here for students.

At the high school level, 732 students graduated from Greenwood County’s public high schools:

  • Greenwood High School: 376 graduates
  • Emerald High School: 184 graduates
  • Ninety Six High School: 119 graduates
  • Ware Shoals High School: 53 graduates

These graduates now have the opportunity to pursue tuition-free education through Greenwood Promise at Piedmont Technical College or at another technical college if the program or certification isn’t offered at Piedmont Tech. We also offer a limited number of scholarships for a 4-year degree.

Greenwood Promise also celebrates the accomplishments of our college graduates this year. A total of 90 students graduated from Piedmont Technical College, including 63 spring and summer graduates and 27 December graduates. At Lander University, 16 Greenwood Promise scholarship recipients completed their degrees during the December, May, and summer graduation ceremonies. In addition, four students graduated from Clemson University and the University of South Carolina through Greenwood Promise’s scholarship program for eligible engineering fields.

Here are just a few of the Greenwood Promise scholarship recipients who graduated in 2026 and are celebrating this milestone.

Jazmin Sanchez Juan completed her studies in criminal justice at Piedmont Technical College and is continuing her education at Lander University, where she plans to pursue a degree in criminology. She is also currently working as a correctional officer in Abbeville County while she finishes her education.

Zach Higginbotham graduated from Lander University in May with a degree in criminology. He will begin his career with the Greenwood County Police Department, putting his education into practice while serving our local community.

Kaitlyn Callaham, a spring graduate of Piedmont Technical College, earned a degree in radiologic technology and is now working with Self Regional Healthcare in Greenwood.

These graduates represent just a select few of the many students who are filling important roles throughout Greenwood County.

As the class of 2026 looks ahead, Greenwood Promise is celebrating not just their achievements, but the promise of what lies ahead.
